Everglades National Park transitions to a new online entrance pass provider

Since 2016, visitors to Everglades National Park have had the convenience of purchasing – at no additional cost – annual and seven-day entrance passes in advance of their trip. After more than a year of piloting, Everglades will be transitioning from Smart Destinations to the NIC Inc. solution YourPassNow.

Once purchased, the electronic entrance pass can be printed or reside on a mobile device for use at the park on the date of purchase or at a specified future date chosen by the visitor during the online transaction. Park staff will validate the entrance pass using a QR (Quick Response) code. Specific instructions on how to use the electronic entrance pass are provided at the time of purchase. The pass is non-transferable, non-refundable, non-replaceable if lost or stolen, and void if altered or reproduced.

Pedro Ramos, superintendent of Everglades National Park, said, “By having the ability to purchase entrance passes at home or on their smartphone in advance of their visit, visitors have an even more convenient way to plan their trip and enter the park.” Superintendent Ramos recently added, “We are happy to be working with NIC moving forward as their program allows the visitor to choose the dates they want to visit the park upon purchase of the pass.”

The NPS uses entrance fees at Everglades to invest in critical improvements that directly benefit visitors, including maintaining and enhancing visitor facilities.

Everglades has joined other locations using YourPassNow, including Colorado National Monument (Colorado), Theodore Roosevelt National Park (North Dakota), Acadia National Park (Maine), Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (California), Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (Florida), and Whiskeytown National Monument (California).

The annual entrance pass fee for Everglades National Park is $40. Seven-day entrance passes are $20 for a private vehicle, $15 for a motorcycle, and $8 for an individual. Persons under age 16 are admitted free. All national parks honor the America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Annual, Senior, Access, Military and Every Kid in a Park 4th Grade passes.
